Improvised Comedy Courses
easylaughs offers comedy improvisation courses in English (and occasionally in Dutch) for all levels of experience. The classes are taught by talented improvisers who have years of experience teaching improvisation. All regular classes have a student performance at the end of the class in front of a real audience as part of the easylaughs Friday night improv show in Amsterdam. (Masterclasses generally do not include a graduation show.) Classes are run at the weekend and on weekday evenings and unless stated otherwise, at the Crea.Everyone who takes an regular easylaughs course is entitled to FREE standby entry to all easylaughs shows for the duration of the course.

Improvisation Level 1 - Learn To Improvise
In this course you will learn all the basic skills of improv. Beginning moments, object work and physical activity on stage are primary focuses. Students will learn basic performance games. The classes are very active - every game or exercise will be practised by everyone, so everyone gets many chances to get up and play. You will learn individual performance and presentation skills and how to work in a team.
The first class is a FREE trial class. You can try it out and decide afterwards
if you want to continue.

Improvisation Level 2 - Beyond the Basics
In this class you will learn how to master your basic improv games and add that professionalism and polish to your scene work. The course concludes with a show on the easylaughs stage and much of the course will be geared towards getting that show as slick and self-assured as possible.You must have taken a level 1 class with easylaughs or have equivalent experience to join this class.

In this class, we will focus on advanced scene work with a focus elements of on long long-form and an emphasis on group support. You will be playing many longer scenes that are based on relationships and characters and building up to making an improvised show that is based on one suggestion.You must have taken a level 2 class with easylaughs or equivalent to join this class.

Masterclass: Introduction to Longform
This course covers the core skills needed for improvised longforms, as well as being an exploration of their form and power.The course will cover storytelling concepts and practice, advanced listening and accepting, ensemble work, as well as covering some of the more popular longform structures. The focus of this course will be working together to build a coherent piece without the structure of formalised games.

Masterclass: Acting for Improv (Intensive Performance Course)
You will receive a total of 18 hours of class time and 4 performances during the 6 week course.Acting is a valuable skill which can improve your scene technique, character work and the dramatic choices you make in scenes. This course will use acting exercises, scripted monologues and scripted text to improve students' ability to create characters, and to improve general improvisation skills. Scripted and improvised work will be used together and the performances will give the students a chance to apply the techniques learned in the course. Feedback will be given by the instructor during the course and performances.
In this course you will also include 4 performances in the easylaughs easylab during the course. The focus of this course will be to give the student acting skills to use in their improvisation.

Masterclass: Singing for Improv
The musical masterclass is two classes in one. In the first hour of every session, vocal coach Kim Sutherland will work on your singing voice with you and will help you develop your voice's potential. After a 15 minute break (refreshments included), we focus on the use of music and singing in improv. You will learn to sing confidently, to use the emotion expressed through singing to give your scenes and characters depth, and to get the audience to engage with your scene.This class will be given by three three teachers. As well as easylaughs' own Kiki Hohnen, there will be live musical accompianament by our musical maestro Steve Alexander and expert input from voice coach, Kim Sutherland.

If you have your own group of (6-12) people and a consistent time they are all available for 8 consecutive weeks (some flexibility allowed), easylaughs can arrange the teacher and location for you.
