In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn the basics of improvising musicals. No experience is
necessary. The focus will be on improvising songs. Come ready to sing - the workshop is
hands-on and practical, and there will be an improv musician present.
The aim of this workshop is to teach you to improvise scenes and longforms in the style of
Shakespeare - in a way that makes your cast look and sound like Shakespearean actors.
This workshop goes beyond the basics learned in Tuesday’s session and is open to
participants from the first workshop and improvisers with some experience with musical
improv. Learn how to improvise songs in various genres in an ensemble.
At the end of this workshop, you will have improvised a full musical. We will learn how to
improvise opening scenes, how to improvise songs, how to build the story in a style true to
the musical genre and how to make your improvised musical look and feeel real. Again,
come ready to sing - the workshop is hands-on and practical, and there will be an improv
musician present.
This workshop is for Shakespeare enthusiasts and improvisers who wish to improve their
skills in performing in different literary styles. The focus will be on improvising a full-length
Shakespeare play, breaking away from the pressure to be funny and creating a play that is
true to the genre and has good storytelling as its highest aim.
Weekday (2 hour) workshops are €25.
Weekend (11.00-17.00) workshops are €50.
There is a maximum of 20 participants per workshop.
All workshops take place at Crea studios.
