Service Description

Taught by Nora McLeese. When you sign-up for a course, you get free entry to our Friday shows and our Sunday workshops. That's a savings of €30 per week! The earlier you sign-up, the earlier you save! What makes a short form game work? What makes them fun to play and what makes them fun to watch? In this short course, we’ll look at some of the most popular short form improv games — e.g. “new choice” or “blind lines” or “shift left” — and dissect the skills that are needed to level up from fun to fantastic. Each class, we will examine two different games. We will talk about how these games are put together, what details to pay attention to and what skills are being put to use. Then we will put theory to practice and try out these games so you can see how to implement these ideas and skills. Working on these games can develop you as both a short form player and a well-rounded improviser, as it will include examining what you do well and where you can still grow. In Mastering Short Form Games, you will: - Learn how certain short form games are put together and how their rules work - Identify what skills you use as an individual or as a team to maximize the potential of each short form game - Highlight and develop your improv skills such as listening, editing, endowing, adapting, teamwork and more - Gain confidence in applying this analysis and skill development for all other short form games This course will run as four 2-hour classes on Tuesday evenings. Note: This course does not include a graduation show. If we do not have enough sign-ups a week before class starts, we will have to cancel and refund those who have already signed up.
