What do Tim & Eric and 20th century philosophers have in common (apart from being conscious entities who acknowledge their existence is meaningless)? Well, nothing… that’s pretty much it. We know comedy is about breaking expectations, but Monty Python came to teach us that sometimes you can break the expectations created around the expectations of comedy ITSELF (It’ll make sense, or not—if it doesn’t, it’s because God is dead).
In this 3-hour workshop, we’ll explore the landscape of possible structures of sketches beyond the punchline and we’ll enter the void of the absurd through analyzing sketches and writing exercises.
Modern structures:
- Frame
- Spiral
- Cow drop
- Rave off
Actually, postmodern:
- Meta-humor
- The absurd
