Multiple easylaughs generations, on stage together

Oh, what a night! About a week and a half ago, we got to celebrate the 20th anniversary of easylaughs. At Plein Theater on 28 November, we gathered nearly 30 former and current cast members to play a show celebrating the best of easylaughs and the joy of improv in front of a sold-out crowd.

To kick things off with true nostalgia, the countdown was set to Darude’s Sandstorm, which was the standard show opening track for years. From there, we launched into an impeccably choreographed and perfectly executed diamond dance featuring all the players. Throughout the rest of the show, we revisited classic formats such as The Play and Superscene, mixed in short-form favorites, improvised a few songs, and did a run of Scenes from a Hat (red bag). We capped it all off with a gloriously chaotic edition of Sex with Me. In classic fashion, Mr. Peter More landed the final joke of the night.

After the show, the celebration continued as we packed the Plein Theater café for a joyful afterparty. There was cake and laughter for hours more. It was a pleasure to witness multiple generations of easylaughters chatting and celebrating together. That sense of community is what this organization is all about.

It’s incredible that what started as a group of enthusiastic performers has grown into such a community cornerstone, with impressive staying power and an alumni roster (cast and students) to gawk at. We can’t thank everyone enough for the past two decades. Whether you were there on this night or not, whether you were on stage or not, if you’ve ever been to one of our shows, workshops, courses, or other events, you’re part of our extended community, and we’re so happy to have you.

At the end of the night, we were reminded why we keep coming back: the people, the laughs, and the joy of making something together. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen. We’ll see you at the next milestone anniversary!
