Course Description

Taught by Niharika Iyengar. The host of a show sets the tone for the evening. They warm up an audience and keep the energy going in between games. A host can get audience members excited about trying their hand at improv on stage. Bring your voice, your presence, and your playful spirit to this four-week improv course designed to transform you into a confident, magnetic host, ready to play with the audience. You will learn how to: ✅ Host the opening of a show including welcoming an audience with authenticity ✅ Warming up an audience, setting expectations and building rapport ✅ Introduce games and explain their rules effectively ✅ Ask for suggestions from an audience and deal with unwanted suggestions ✅ Host games that involve audience participation ✅ Edit games at the right time ✅ Interview audience members with confidence and ease This course is for improvisers who have completed at least 3 beginner courses or equivalent. Please email info@easylaughsnl if you are unsure you meet the requirements. Show off the skills learned in your 25 minute graduation show on March 27th! Niharika is an actor, writer, and improviser. She has been part of the easylaughs cast since 2023. She is the founder of the improv group 'A Welcome Distraction', and the company '(un)scripted Productions', through which she regularly produces theatre & improv shows. Since 2025 she has taught workshops at easylaughs and volunteers as tech at the Friday shows.
