Service Description

Taught by Sharon Em. Please note: If we do not have enough sign-ups a week before class starts, we will have to cancel. When you sign-up for a course, you get free entry to our Friday shows and our Sunday workshops. That’s a savings of 30 per week! The earlier you sign-up, the earlier you save! Have you been doing some shows on the open mic circuit, and feel like you need something more? Do you feel a disconnect between how funny you are with your friends and how funny you are on stage? Do you want help to take your comedy to the next level? If you can relate to any of these questions then our Intermediate course is the course for you. Over the course of 6, 2-hour classes we help you to take your comedy to the next level! We review your material together and workshop what works and what doesn’t, revisiting it in the context of who you are and your honest voice. We help bring perspective and context to what you’re working with that’s hard to get by yourself. We explore exercises and habits to help with your writing process and let your imagination flow to make comedy writing a part of your life in a way where you can react when the inspiration hits. We find ways to trigger the funniness within you in ways that feel as natural as you are in your funniest moments. We work together as a group to get different perspectives on different styles and feedback to collaboratively find improvements, other perspectives and unique directions to take things. Political, absurd, improvisation, dead-pan, we try new things. We explore more distinct styles outside of your comfort zone giving you the safe space to take risks, try new things and see how it feels with guidance and feedback. Together we’ll develop a hoard of new material, so you can pick your best 5 minutes to perform on the open mic circuit! Sharon Em is a comedian working in the Amsterdam English comedy scene as a performer, promoter and booker. She runs comedy nights all over NL under the name Weird Uncle Comedy. She has coached and supported newer stand ups with working on their material and this has given her a good insight into the pitfalls newer comedians can fall into. This has led her to teaching stand up at easylaughs.
